Zach Hartje, Director and Deputy CIO

Zach is the Director of Teaching and Learning Technologies and the Deputy CIO for the College. He has a degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Dayton. Zach has had the opportunity to work in a number of capacities during his tenure at the College, and enjoys working with faculty and staff on finding new ways to improve teaching and learning, increase productivity, and solving problems by implementing emerging technologies.  At home, Zach has a two children who keep him busy with extra curricular activities. In his free time he enjoys playing and watching a wide variety of sports and doing home DIY projects.

  

Michael Bommarito, Instructional Technologist
School of the Arts
School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs

Michael has taught face-to-face and online classes as well as served as Director if Online Learning & Instructional Designer for a small college in North Dakota. He has a passion for creative education that supports faculty and assists students. With a BA in Music (Voice) and a PhD in Higher Education: Teaching and Learning, and a decade living and working abroad, he is excited to be working with both the School of the Arts and the School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs. As recent “empty-nesters” he and his wife have recently relocated to the Charleston area. They enjoy long walks, hiking, downhill skiing, and traveling. Debby Marindin, Instructional Technologist
School of Humanitites and Social Sciences

Debby joined Teaching and Learning Technologies as an Instructional Technologist on March 3, 2020, however she has been a part of the college as an Adjunct Faculty member for the School of Professional Studies as an Adjunct Faculty member and program coordinator for both the Applied Communications and the Project Management programs in the Professional Studies program since 2018. She continues to love teaching a variety of courses ranging from formal project management, sales, marketing, communications as well as some foundational courses such as creative problem solving, critical thinking, decision making and research skills in the program.  Prior to coming on board full-time with the college she owned two businesses (Marindin Consulting and Charleston Beverage Catering) and prior to that as a program director for Trident Technical College in South Carolina and Montgomery College in Maryland.  Debby is currently working on her doctorate in education.  Debby happily resides in the Mount Pleasant. She has three children (30, 26 and 18), a husband, three cats, two fish and a dog. (marindindj@cofc.edu)

 

Christopher Meshanko, Training and Development Coordinator

Chris Meshanko is the TLT Training and Development Coordinator for Online Education. In addition to facilitating the Online Education Readiness Course (OERC), Chris assists faculty with online course design and evaluation. He also teaches online for the Department of Psychology. If Chris’ name looks familiar, it’s because he served as the Instructional Technologist for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences from 2013-2019. Chris has an Education Specialist Degree in Instructional Technology, from the University of West Georgia, and a Certificate in Advanced E-Learning Instructional Design. He also has Certificates in Knowledge Management, Project Management, and Consulting. Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time with his family and learning new things. (meshankocm@cofc.edu)

 

Katie Metz, Instructional Technologist
School of Sciences, Mathematics, and Engineering
School of Health Sciences

Katie has a degree in Biology and Secondary Education from CofC, so she’s thrilled to be home! After wearing various K-12, technology, and library hats, Katie got her master’s degree in Educational Technology with Boise State, as well as a certificate in Educational Games and Simulations. Katie loves teaching others ways to make their jobs easier by using technology. At home, Katie has 2 tween/teenage children and spends a lot of time with them on their school projects. Katie also enjoys live theatre and mystery activities such as murder mysteries and escape rooms. (metzkh@cofc.edu)

 

Laura Plotts, Academic Applications Administrator

Laura Plotts is the Academic Applications Administrator.  She has a degree in English from the Ohio State University.  She started working with faculty as a sales representative for Harcourt Brace, where she helped integrate the publisher’s technology resources into their teaching.  She is married to Chris Warnick, an associate professor in English. (plottsl@cofc.edu)

  

Victor Ruiz, Instructional Technologist

School of Education

Victor has a bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University in Special Education, and a master’s degree from Stockton University in Instructional Technology. He is fascinated by the new and innovative approaches in educational technology and how they can enhance modern learning environments. ‘Flexibility’ is something that he takes pride in, since learning is always changing for the better. Outside of work, Victor enjoys being outdoors, watching and playing all types of sports, and coaching high school soccer in the Charleston area. (ruizv@cofc.edu)
