Teaching, Learning and Technology is launching our online and face-to-face training sessions on Wednesday, September 15th! Even though OAKS, the College’s new learning management system, isn’t available to the entire campus until January 2011, you can start learning and building your classes for Spring 2011 now!

If you like to learn at your own pace and on your own schedule, you can watch the video tutorials on OAKS! Watching the video tutorials allow you to choose specific topics that relate to a tool. You have the capability to fast forward, pause or rewind during the videos. Some video tutorials even cover the tools more in depth than in the face-to-face training sessions.

You can access the videos by following the steps below: (Please note: the videos will not be available until September 15th)

  • Login to my.cofc.edu
  • Click the OAKS icon in the upper right hand corner
  • On the My Home page within OAKS, scroll down until you see the My Courses Widget
  • Click the Student Tab
  • Click OAKS Training
  • Once inside the course, click the Content Link on the course navigation bar
  • Click on the video

You can also choose to attend our training sessions on the 3rd floor of JC Long! We’ve scheduled numerous training sessions at different times so that you can try to fit them in your busy schedules. We’ll provide the laptop for you during the session.

We’ll also provide lab time when you can come in and ask specific questions pertaining to a tool. If you’re not sure which tool(s) to use, we can help look at your activities and course objectives and find the best tool that will maximize student learning. Just contact your instructional technologist!

Check our calendar (http://bit.ly/aqwQGR) to view the times for our training sessions and lab time. Seating is limited, so registration is required! You can click on the link below to register for the upcoming training sessions. Register today for the training sessions!

When learning OAKS you can practice in your development course. When you login to OAKS, in the Instructor tab you will see a development course. This allows you to practice and create activities within the tools. At the end of the semester, you can easily copy the content and activities that you have created to your live courses.

If you have any questions, please contact your Instructional Technologist.

We hope to see you soon!
